Kaoyuan (Investigation of Origins) ctext states: According to the Shiji (Records of the Grand Historian), Tianguan Shu (Book of Celestial Officials) ctext, the use of the Dipper’s positions is described as follows: Dipper Handle at Dusk is the position of Lunar Establisher. Dipper Balance at Midnight is the position of Lunar Establisher. Dipper Bowl at Dawn is the position of Lunar Establisher.

Chunqiu Yundoushu (Spring and Autumn Annals of the Dipper’s Motions) states: The first star is Tian Shu (Celestial Pivot). The second is Xuan. The third is Ji. The fourth is Quan. The fifth is Heng. The sixth is Kaiyang. The seventh is Yaoguang. The first to fourth stars form the Kui (Bowl), and the fifth to seventh form the Shao (Handle), together constituting the Dipper. wiki

For example, during the first lunar month: At dusk, the Dipper Handle points to B2YIN. At midnight, the Dipper Balance points to B2YIN. At dawn, the Dipper Bowl points to B2YIN. The palace where the sun and moon meet is called the Lunar Commander
