說卦傳曰天地定位山澤通氣雷風相薄水火不相射八卦相錯

邵子曰乾南坤北離東坎西兌居東南震居東北巽居西南艮居西北所謂先天之學也

☰_HEAVEN and ☷_EARTH received their determinate positions
☶_MOUNTAIN and ☱_LAKE interchanged their influences
☳_THUNDER and ☴_WIND excited each other the more
☵_WATER and ☲_FIRE did each other no harm
(Then) among these eight symbols there was a mutual communication. The numbering of the past is a natural process. The knowledge of the coming is anticipation. Therefore in the Yi (易) we have (both) anticipation (and the natural process).
